RIKEN Omics Science Center, Yokohama, Japan

A long lasting collaboration is active with Piero Carninci, Director of the Division of Genomic Technologies and Deputy Center Director at RIKEN Center for Life Science Technologies in Yokohama, Japan. Carninci has developed technologies to analyze the transcriptome, such as the cap-trapper and the CAGE. These technologies have been broadly used in FANTOM projects and are of current use in the most important genome laboratories worldwide. Dr Carninci has discovered that long non-coding RNAs are the major output of the mammalian genome. By the use of CAGE he has comprehensively map mammalian promoters.
